Presentation

Eusko Ikastola Batza was set up in 1986 by four ikastolas: in Bizkaia, Lauaxeta and Lauro, in Gipuzkoa, Ekintza and in Araba, Olabide.

Currently the association is comprised of 12 ikastolas with more than 10.000 students, which in total make up 25% of the students studying in ikastolas.

Initially EIB was set up to support the educational project and the individual status of member Ikastolas, giving priority to this aspect rather than to receiving financial support from the local government.

From the outset, EIB has supported the development of the Basque language and the defence of Basque culture, as well as the development of educational projects of quality which a number of institutions have recognized. EIB groups together the most Ikastolas with awards of excellence (Award 1, 2 Price eta 2 European finalist, 3 gold Q eta 7 silver Q of the Basque Goverment, 2 MEC awards...).

At present these are the associates: Artxandape, Begoñazpi, Berakruz, Claret, Ekintza, Iparragirre, Lauaxeta, Lauro, Mariaren Lagundia, Olabide, San Fidel eta Txomin Agirre.
